NTU students take their show on the road
The pioneer batch of students from Nanyang Technological University’s School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) are not resting on their laurels when it comes to landing their dream job amidst the recession.
Instead of waiting for available job openings, the students are proactively engaging industry players and other potential employers by bringing their best works out of school and showcasing them at two upcoming satellite shows in the city.
The first satellite show, titled ‘Party of Tomorrow’, is an exhibition organised by 31 graduates in the areas of Visual Communication, and Photography and Digital Imaging, at ADM. The exhibition, which will officially open on 12 June 2009 at 7.00 pm, will be held at 2902 Gallery, Old School at Mount Sophia, until 21 June 2009. Some 500 industry players including some from Lucasfilm, Ubisoft, Media Development Authority, the National Arts Council and Design Singapore, have been invited to the official opening of the showcase. More information is available on the ‘Party of Tomorrow’ website at www.partyoftomorrow2009.com
The second, titled ‘Flare’, is a private film-screening session organised by nine graduates from ADM’s Digital Filmmaking area. It will be held on Friday 26 June 2009 from 5.00 pm till 11.30 pm at the Gallery Theatre, National Museum of Singapore. Nine thesis films will be screened at the session to some 247 invited guests.
