Prospective students and families discover L.I.F.E. @ NTU

Imagine sharing your videos via WiFi on your mobile phone, taking photographs in 3D, or mapping the underground using wave technology.  These are just three of almost 200 innovative projects by top undergraduate students that will be presented at the Nanyang Technological University’s Open House today.

Some 10,000 visitors, including prospective students, their families and friends, are expected to throng the university’s Yunnan Garden campus for the Open House, dubbed “Learning is Fun & Exciting at NTU” (L.I.F.E. @ NTU).  Members of the public will also enjoy a sneak preview of NTU’s newly refurbished Halls of Residence.  The halls will be part of the Youth Olympic Village at NTU, housing athletes, coaches and officials from over 200 countries in August 2010.

Prof Lalit Goel, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, says “This Open House is a perfect opportunity for prospective students to experience all that makes NTU such a unique place to live, study and play.  We’ve created a solid agenda to help them understand the high quality of NTU’s undergraduate degree programmes and learn about residential living and support services that are available to them. Potential students will find out exactly what they would need to become a successful student here.”

NTU’s undergraduate degree programmes cover a broad spectrum including Engineering, Science, Business & Accountancy, Arts, Communication Studies, Humanities, Teaching and Sport Science & Management. A series of talks on undergraduate programmes offered at each of the four NTU Colleges and the National Institute of Education will be held throughout the day.  NTU Deans, Chairs, faculty and staff will be on hand to address queries and to help the students and their parents discover how NTU develops well-rounded leaders through a broad, global education in diverse disciplines.  Alumni will also share their success stories and how being equipped with an NTU degree has made a difference to their career.
