NTU adds new Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Alumni Associations

The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is establishing two new Alumni Associations in Vietnam this week.  The alumni chapter in Hanoi will be officially launched this evening and the second in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday, 14 Jan 2010. This brings the total number of NTU Alumni Associations across the globe to 21. The new Associations will strengthen alumni’s connections with NTU, and offer opportunities for networking with fellow alumni and other professionals in the two rapidly growing cities.

NTU President, Dr Su Guaning, says, “Our alumni are the ambassadors of NTU.  Alumni have a major role to play, not only in the development of our University, but also in the growth of communities in which we live. For while the quality education we offer and the research we conduct remain the traditional benchmarks of excellence at NTU, such quality is best exhibited in the achievements of our alumni in representing our University. Ultimately, the great global university taking shape in NTU will be defined by the impact our alumni make on society and the world.”

The NTU Alumni Association (Hanoi) will be led by Dr Trinh Minh Thu, who graduated with a doctoral degree in Engineering (Civil & Environmental) in 2006.  Dr Su Guaning (徐冠林), President of NTU, will officially launch the Hanoi association at the Sofitel Plaza in the capital of Vietnam this evening, witnessed by some 100 alumni and guests.

The new President of the NTU Alumni Association (Ho Chi Minh City) is Dr Ha Nam Khanh Giao. Dr Ha, who graduated from the Nanyang Business School in 2004, will join Dr Su and more than 150 alumni and guests at the Majestic Hotel on Thursday evening to celebrate the formation of the new alumni chapter in the largest city of Vietnam.

Presently, there are more than 150 NTU alumni in Hanoi and another 350 in Ho Chi Minh City.  They are part of a thriving network of more than 134,000 NTU alumni across the globe.
