NTU unveils new Hong Kong and Yunnan Alumni Associations
The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is celebrating the official launch of two new Alumni Associations in Hong Kong and Yunnan today and tomorrow (Saturday, 7 Nov 09) respectively. This brings the total number of NTU Alumni Associations to 15 in China and 20 internationally. The new Alumni Associations will be instrumental in strengthening alumni connections in the two territories, while offering opportunities for business collaboration and networking after graduation. The Associations will also be invaluable platforms for alumni to actively participate in the development of NTU and its activities.
The NTU Alumni Association (Hong Kong) will be headed by Mr Liew Han-Young (刘瀚扬), Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Centro Renewables Holding Limited, who graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil & Structural) with Merit in 1995. The Association will be formally launched at the Hong Kong Jockey Club this evening by Dr Su Guaning (徐冠林), President of NTU, in the presence of more than 80 alumni and guests.
Mr Wang Minzheng (王敏正), Mayor of Zhaotong City Municipal Government, Yunnan, China, will take the helm as President of the NTU Alumni Association (Yunnan). Mr Wang, who graduated from NTU’s Master of Business Administration (Nanyang Fellows) programme in 2004, will join Dr Su at the Green Lake Hotel, Kunming, on Saturday evening for the launch ceremony of the new Association, along with some 120 alumni and guests.
To date, there are about 130 NTU alumni in Hong Kong and another 240 in Yunnan. They form a thriving network of more than 131,000 NTU alumni across the globe, with more than 10,000 based in China.
